Abstract: We believe there is nothing more important than health, especially for our
community to lead vibrant, engaging lives, starting with wellness. We are
providing our community with an opportunity to set them on the path to
well-being once and for all. We promote healthier lives through education about
nutritious, delicious food that is within economic reach of everyone. Our goal
is to achieve health improvements by leading cooking lessons focused on healthy
foods that are not only easy to make, but also affordable. Along with the actual
cooking, we will talk about the steps to a healthier lifestyle from a dietary
perspective. The classes will take place at the Center for Career and Technology
Education, and they will be targeted towards parents of young children or
teenagers. This way, not only will the participants benefit from the program,
but also their respective families. At the end of the program, we will hold a
“Cook-off” as a fun finish which will be evaluated by a prestigious judge panel
of local chefs and small business owners to have the whole community involve in
some part. We will also try to set up more than one session so more people can
benefit from this great opportunity for healthier, better lives!
